Authorities: Teenager Runs Into Nearby Walgreens After Being Shot in Back

CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy was sent to the hospital after being shot Monday in the back and running into an East Side Walgreens, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at 4:52 p.m. on the 10500 block of Avenue L, according to the fire department.

The boy, who police say was shot in the lower back, ran into a Walgreens store at 3611 E. 106th St. after the incident and was later taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Police say the boy is in stable condition after being sent to the hospital in critical condition, according to the fire department's Twitter feed.
