CHICAGO — Have the cops cut short the Barbershop Bandit's run of stickups?

That's the hope in Skokie, where investigators are holding a man suspected in a string of hair salon stickups in Chicago and the suburbs.

The gunman targeted salons in the last several months, including Great Clips locations in Wicker Park and Lincoln Park.

A suspect was nabbed in Skokie and was being questioned there Monday night, Skokie police said. Detectives from Chicago and several suburbs are also working the case, police said.

Police issued a statement warning the Lincoln Park community of salon robberies in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of West Fullerton Avenue in December. On Jan. 29, the suspect struck a Great Clips in the 1000 block of West Webster Avenue.

In the Wicker Park incident on Monday morning, police said a man pulled a gun on a worker at a Great Clips in the 1200 block of North Ashland Avenue and demanded cash before taking off in a gray sedan. He made off with about $250 from the salon, police said.

No one was hurt in the Wicker Park incident, nor in any of the other robberies, police said.
