CHICAGO — A man who robbed a Wicker Park hair salon at gunpoint Monday morning is likely same man who has struck several other similar businesses around the Chicago area, police said.

Police said the man matches the description of the person who robbed a Lincoln Park Great Clips store in January, as well as several other hair salons in that neighborhood and the suburbs.

In Monday's caper, a man entered a Great Clips in the 1200 block of North Ashland Avenue about 10:45 a.m., police said. Three people were in the business at the time when the man pulled out a handgun and demanded cash from a worker, said Chicago Police spokesman Daniel O'Brien.

After handing a bag over to the worker, the robber fled with $250 north on Ashland and got away in a southbound grey sedan, O'Brien said.

The suspect was wearing a red and gray jacket, blue jeans, a hat and a scarf, O'Brien said.
