Man Shot in Shin in Austin

CHICAGO — A 39-year-old man was wounded in the shin during daytime shooting in Austin.

The man was walking down the alley on the 4800 block of West Van Buren when a brown older model car pulled up near him, according to police spokesman Officer Jose Estrada.

Estrada said a man got out of the car with the intent of robbing the victim. The two got into a brief struggle, and the man pulled a gun and shot the victim in the right leg. He then drove away, Estrada said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Estrada said. No one is currently in custody.

The victim has document gang ties, Kubiak said. No one is in custody.
