CHICAGO — A man was arrested Thursday night after barricading himself in a home when police saw him shoot a handgun multiple times near the Kedzie CTA Orange Line stop, police said.

Edgar Jassso, 29, fired several shots into the street about 9:45 p.m. while standing in the doorway of his home in the 4800 block of South Kedzie Avenue, police said.

Officers on patrol saw Jasso fire the shots, and he then fled into his home and locked himself inside, police said.

Police declared a hostage-barricade situation and surrounded the home, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

Twenty minutes later, Jasso was taken into custody "without incident." Police found two handguns in his home, officials said.

Jasso is a convicted felon who is currently on parole. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, reckless discharge of a firearm.

He was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
