CHICAGO — A taxi driver was injured after he drove through a red light and hit a fire truck at the busy intersection of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive, police said.

The cabbie, driving south on Michigan Avenue, ran a red light as a fire truck responding to an emergency drove into the intersection, police said.

The t-bone crash had traffic snarled for blocks.

The taxi driver, a 61-year-old man, was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, officials said. No other injuries were reported.

He was cited for failure to stop and a red light and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, police said.

Southbound traffic trying to get over the Michigan Avenue bridge was backed up for blocks.
