Gage Park Man Shot and Killed Overnight

CHICAGO — A man died after being shot multiple times in the city's Gage Park neighborhood Wednesday night.

Frederico Martinez, of the 5400 block of South California Avenue, was shot about 10 p.m. while standing in an alley on the street where he lived, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

Martinez, 32, was standing with a woman when a light-colored pickup entered the alley and he was shot multiple times in the face, chest and both arms, Estrada said.

Martinez was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead about 10:40 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
