BUCKTOWN— A boutique that specialized in footwear for women wearing sizes larger than nine before expanding to include all sizes is hoping to clear inventory by month's end.
Violette opened three years ago and is located across the street from vive la femme, a 'sister boutique' at 2048 N. Damen Ave. that offers fashions for fuller-figured women and teens that has been in business for over 10 years.
"Of course we're sad to be closing [Violette], but vive la femme is absolutely staying open and will continue to be part of the community," said Amanda Johanson 32, manager of Violette, a womens' shoe store at 2031 N. Damen Ave.
Both Violette and vive la femme are owned by Stephanie Sack, 38, who told DNainfo that she's "currently chosen to focus on marquee brand vive la femme" but added that there will be "future violette projects" down the road.
The shoes, which Sack describes as "very cute, priced right" run the gamut from sandals and ballet flats to winter boots with varying styles and heels.
'Last call' sale prices range from 19-$39.
"I don't want these shoes to go into a landfill," Sack said. "I want them to go home with new mommies — or daddies. I don't judge."
Shopping hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tues-Fri. and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat-Sun., or by appointment. For more information call 773-235-7150.
