ENGLEWOOD — Christmas is coming early for children in Englewood, with two toy giveaways scheduled there this weekend.

One of the giveaways, sponsored by Ald. Toni Foulkes (15th), whose district includes West Englewood, is set for 10 a.m. at William R. Harper High School, 6520 S. Wood St., and is open to the public.

The other, sponsored by Englewood businessman Suhail Fakhouri, is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Englewood District police station, 1438 W. 63rd St., and is limited to a group of low-income neighborhood children chosen by local churches and organizations.

Fakhouri is donating more than 100 toys.

"I enjoy helping the community any way I can. I am not one who takes money out of the community and does not give back," said Fakhouri, who has sponsored the event for the last five years. "As long as I am able, I will always give back to the community."

Businessman Suhail Fakhouri receives a plaque Tuesday from Englewood District Cmdr. Leo Schmitz as appreciation for sponsoring a toy giveaway for the last five years.
