CHICAGO — One police officer injured in a Wednesday morning car crash on the South Side remained hospitalized with a broken arm Thursday, officials said.
Officer Brian McVey, 35, may need surgery on his arm, which was found to be broken during follow-up testing after the crash on 7000 block of Stony Island Avenue.
He and two other gang unit officers were rushed to hospitals after they swerved, lost control of their car and smashed into two light poles when responding to a call.
Officer Jameka Sherrod, 30, also remained hospitalized, but was expected to be released Thursday, and Officer D’Wayne McGee, 36, was released from Stroger Hospital Wednesday, officials said.
