COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Chicago Vocational Career Academy teacher is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student in her high school classroom and exchanging racy text messages.

Bridgette Miller, 39, was charged with having sex with the student twice — once in her car behind a Walgreens in Avalon Park and once in her classroom at the school at 2100 E. 87th St., prosecutors said in court Friday.

Both incidents happened in March, prosecutors said. Miller appeared in court Friday, charged with sexual assault of a minor, and was ordered held on $150,000 bond.

She appeared dazed in court. A family member who showed up at the hearing declined to comment.

Her defense attorney, Edward Malone of James J. Jennings and Associates, said his client, a mother of three, is innocent of the charges.

Miller is listed on the Chicago Vocational website as a medical technology teacher. Her attorney said she also works outside the school as a medical assistant.

According to prosecutors, Miller got the student's cellphone number from another student and began texting him. On March 17, they were in her car behind a Walgreens near 87th and Creiger Street, and she performed oral sex on him, prosecutors said. Then they had sex, prosecutors said.

The second encounter happened five days later in her classroom, according to prosecutors. She performed oral sex on him in the classroom and then had sex with him, prosecutors said.

Authorities took Miller's cellphone and found text messages indicating she had had sex with the teen, prosecutors said.

A CPS spokesperson said Miller resigned from the school June 1, and could not further comment.
