Allegra Hobbs

Reporter/Producer @AllegraEHobbs Contact

Allegra Hobbs is a reporter/producer covering the East Village and the Lower East Side.

Allegra came to DNAinfo New York from the Brooklyn Paper, where she covered many neighborhood beats, most recently Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick.

Before discovering the wonders of local news reporting, Allegra interviewed celebrities at red carpet events for New York magazine.

Allegra is a native Texan who was raised vegetarian and is apathetic towards football, but does occasionally enjoy country music. She studied Rhetoric at Pepperdine University outside Los Angeles and spent a year in Italy before landing in New York, where she underwent a stint of couch-surfing and coffee-slinging while writing music and nightlife pieces for a now-defunct local news site.

Fun Fact: Allegra worked at a Manhattan restaurant frequented by Bill Murray, and once got in trouble with her manager for taking his breakfast order over the phone.
