BROOKLYN — District Attorney Ken Thompson's wake will take place Friday afternoon in East New York, with his funeral following Saturday morning, officials said Tuesday.

The wake for Thompson, the progressive Brooklyn district attorney who died Sunday after battling cancer, will be held at the Christian Cultural Center in East New York Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

His funeral will then take place at the same location from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Thompson, 50, announced last week that he had been diagnosed with cancer and would be taking time off to receive treatment.

"As a man of intense faith, I intend to fight and win the battle against this disease,” he said in a statement.

He died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. It’s unclear what type of cancer he had.
