BROOKLYN — A man was shot and critically injured outside the Whitman Houses in Fort Greene on Tuesday night, police said.

The 24-year-old man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was shot in the chest and left hand outside 86 Carlton Ave., near Cumberland Walk, about 2:15 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said Wednesday morning.

His injuries were considered life-threatening and he was being treated at Methodist Hospital, the spokesman said.

The suspects, two men, fled the scene and weren't immediately arrested, police said.

One man, who stands at 5 feet 10 inches and 300 pounds, wore blue jeans and a cream-colored hoodie, police said.

The other man wore black shorts, police said.
