CRIME BLOTTER: Man Threatens to 'F--- Up' Officers With Tree Branch

By Alexandra Leon | December 17, 2015 1:52pm

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A man armed with a tree branch threatened to “f*** up” officers trying to arrest him Saturday at the Farragut Houses, police said.

Anthony Mclaurin, 33, was swinging the branch at another man, striking him multiple times, while saying, “I’m going to beat you up,” at 6:45 a.m. on Dec. 12, the NYPD said.

When officers approached Mclaurin, he started swinging the branch at them and said, “I’ll f*** you up,” according to police.

Officers said Mclaurin resisted arrest by swinging the branch, flailing his arms and stiffening his body.

Police were eventually able to arrest him and he was charged with attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and resisting arrest.

Attorney information for Mclaurin was not immediately available.

Other notable crimes in this week’s blotter from the 84th and 88th precincts include:

► A 70-year-old woman received a phone call while she was in her apartment on Lefferts Place at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 7 from a man saying he was her nephew and that he was in Delaware and needed money to help him pay for damage to his car sustained in a crash. She sent the man $1,216 through Western Union to cover the cost of the alleged accident, but the next day she spoke with her actual nephew who told her he was in Texas and hadn’t been involved in a crash.

► A 27-year-old woman was walking home from her friend’s house at 7:55 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the northeast corner of Jay Street and Prospect Street when two men in dark-colored hoodies approached her from behind. One of the men grabbed her and tased her in the right cheek while the other man acted as a lookout. The woman was uninjured and refused medical attention at the scene. Police have not made any arrests.

► A 22-year-old man and his girlfriend were in his home at the Farragut Houses at 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 9 when his father tried to break in by drilling out a lock at the front door and causing damage to the key cylinder. Police are still looking for the man’s father.

► A 26-year-old man and his girlfriend were on the platform waiting for the R train at the Jay Street-MetroTech station at 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 10 when a 45-year-old man approached them and started yelling at them. The man and his girlfriend started walking away, but the suspect followed them. He then punched the 26-year-old man in the mouth and the back of the head before ripping a metal chain from the man’s neck and stuffing it into his own mouth.

► A 23-year-old man jumped the turnstile at a subway station near Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10. When police stopped him, he refused to give his ID and flailed his arms to avoid being handcuffed. The man tumbled down onto the platform, injuring an officer’s elbow, and then bit another officer on the left arm, breaking skin and causing bleeding. After officers cuffed the suspect, a second 20-year-old man started yelling obscenities and pushed an officer to try to stop him from taking the first man from the scene. Officers arrested both men and later found a box cutter in the second man’s pocket.
