DUMBO — Who's going to be beast-dressed?
DUMBO is joining the ranks of New York's neighborhoods that host dog costume events — giving residents of the waterfront community the chance to put their costumed pups, or other animals, on parade.
The first annual "Salty Dog Pet Costume Soirée" follows in the footsteps of the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade that has been around for 24 years, the 12-year-old Brooklyn Heights Howl-o-Ween Parade and the 16th Annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest in Fort Greene, but unlike the other events this show is open to "all pets."
"People can bring their costumed iguana, bird or fish if they want," said organizer Cara Lee Sparry, who owns The Lighthouse under the Manhattan Bridge. "Anything goes."
Also, the first annual Soirée is a gathering for pets in elaborate ensembles — not a contest, Sparry said.
Salty Dog takes place on Oct. 31 in the Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge. There will be beer, snacks, a photobooth and music by Afro-funk band Mamarazzi.
The event starts at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
