Large Projected Images at BAM Show Support for Boston in Fort Greene

By Janet Upadhye | April 16, 2013 9:16am

FORT GREENE — The Brooklyn Academy of Music served as a canvas for art in support of Boston in the aftermath of explosions at the Boston Marathon Monday night.

"Another incredible night with the @illuminator99!," tweeted Lucky Tran who helped project the images. "Each time reminds me of the importance of creativity in fueling hope in this world."

Created by the Occupy Wall Street Light Brigade and The Illuminator, a political art project that emerged out of Occupy Wall Street, the projected images read "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that," and "NY Loves Boston," among others.

Images were projected in blue and remained on the side of the Peter Jay Sharp building until at least midnight according to a live stream of the light show.

Monday afternoon's explosions at the Boston Marathon killed three people and injured over 100 people.
