Nigel Chiwaya is DNAinfo New York's data and visualizations reporter.

A native of Springfield Gardens, Nigel previously worked at the Queens Ledger/Brooklyn Star newspaper group. While there he reported on sports; from little league baseball to the first Mets game at Citi Field. Nigel also covered the smartphone industry at HTCPedia.com.

Nigel earned his master’s degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, studied Communication Arts at New York Institute of Technology, and survived the New York Times Student Journalism Institute.

Nigel and his wife live in Inwood.

Fun Fact: Nigel once played guitar for the German Chancellor in Berlin.
