INWOOD — Ditcher Pharmacy is about to mark one year at its current location, and it's letting all of Inwood in on the celebration.

The drug store and ice cream shop is hosting a day-long bash this Saturday, with snacks and sweets being handed out before the evening's poetry society meeting.

Pharmacy owner Manny Ramirez said that Ditcher staff will be doling out samples of the shop's new personal pizzas, soft pretzels, and a few surprise sweets, along with stickers for children.

"Just come on by, say 'Happy Anniversary, Manny,' and you'll get something for free," Ramirez said.

After the snacks, Ramirez is inviting aspiring poets to come to the pharmacy's 5 p.m. poetry society meeting, where residents will be given to the chance to test their material on a supportive crowd.

The invite is extended to non-English-speaking rhymers, as Ramirez hoping to get poets to perform in Spanish, sign language and as many other languages as possible.

Dichter moved into its 4953 Broadway space last May after it was displaced by an early 2012 fire that destroyed the homes of several mom-and-pop shops on 207th Street. Ramirez said that the first year in the new space has been hectic, but it's been eased by supportive residents.

"I know how much the neighorhood cares about me and I'm very grateful to them," Ramirez said. "That's what this is about, I just want to say thank you."
