Eddie Small is a reporter/producer for DNAinfo, covering the South Bronx.

Eddie grew up in the half of Connecticut that likes to pretend it is New York City, and he is happy to be living here for real now.

He graduated from Dickinson College in 2010, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper The Dickinsonian, and then from Columbia Journalism School in 2012, where he covered the Forest Houses in the South Bronx and had articles appear in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

He was awarded a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship from the school, which he used to travel to the Australian Outback for a story on aboriginal health that appeared in The Atlantic.

After graduation, Eddie took a summer internship at the Waterbury Republican-American before accepting a full-time job at the Boston Courant, a weekly newspaper in Boston where he covered the city’s Beacon Hill, Fenway and Back Bay neighborhoods. Topics ranged from the Boston Marathon bombings to speed limits.

Before going into journalism, Eddie spent a year as a tutor at Match Middle School in Boston.

Fun fact: When he is not writing articles for DNAinfo, Eddie spends his free time writing jokes for The Onion.
