QUEENS — A straphanger was slashed across his face aboard an A train in a seemingly unprovoked attack, police said.
The 21-year-old rider was slashed across the left side of his face at the Beach 60th Street station Sunday around 1:30 a.m., the NYPD said.
Police do not believe the victim knew the attacker and no words were exchanged before the assault, according to police.
The rider suffered a large cut and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said.
The attacker got off the train and fled in an unknown direction, according to police.

The suspect was described as about 27 years odl, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers, police said.
