Teen Sexually Assaults Classmate in Basement of Queens High School: NYPD

By Katie Honan | July 20, 2017 1:49pm

CAMBRIA HEIGHTS — An 18-year-old student brought a 16-year-old classmate to the basement of his Queens school and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Olivier Chatelaine brought the girl to the basement of the Campus Magnet Building, at 207-01 116th Ave., on Tuesday morning, and forced her up against a wall, according to the criminal complaint.

He lifted up her skirt and performed oral sex despite her telling him "no" repeatedly, police said.

He then took a red condom out of his bag and tried to rape her, but she got away before he could, the complaint says.

"You can talk to that other boy, but you can't have sex with me?" he said, according to the complaint.

He later turned himself into the 105th Precinct, officials said, and was arraigned Wednesday.

Chatelaine was charged with attempted rape, criminal sex act, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment.

His lawyer told the Daily News it was a "non-violent first offense" to downplay the assault.

“This is his first contact with the criminal justice system,” Joseph Welsh told the newspaper. “He voluntarily surrendered himself to the precinct.”

Toya Holness, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, said they're working with the NYPD throughout the investigation.

“The safety of students and staff always comes first, and this disturbing incident was immediately reported and is being investigated," she wrote in an email.
