DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Trader Joe’s fans, the moment has arrived.

Brooklyn’s much-anticipated second location of the popular grocery chain is opening this Friday, the company announced Wednesday.

The store will “drop anchor” at the new City Point development in Downtown Brooklyn at 9 a.m., according to an online message.

“Please join Captain Stephanie and Crew for the Grand Opening Celebration!” the company said in the posting.

The large new Trader Joe’s will be located in the lower level of City Point’s retail complex, next to the building’s 26,000-square-foot food hall, Dekalb Market, which opened last weekend.

The opening, originally scheduled for fall of 2016, was delayed for several months due to construction at the huge City Point building, which also includes hundreds of apartments, a new Target, Century 21 department store and an outpost of the Austin-based theater chain, Alamo Drafthouse.

Prior to Friday, Trader Joe’s had only one other store in Brooklyn — located on Court Street and Atlantic Avenue — known for its overcrowding and outrageous lines, particularly on weekends.

On Wednesday, an anonymous employee of the Court Street store who goes by Trader Broseph celebrated the news of the opening on Twitter:

The new Trader Joe’s is located at 445 Gold St.
