DUMBO — Applications are now open for apartments through the city's affordable housing program at a new building on Front Street, with one-bedrooms starting at $895 per month.

The housing lottery opened Friday for 21 units at the newly constructed 12-story building at 181 Front St., between Jay and Bridge streets.

The units will be made up of nine one-bedroom apartments, 11 two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment available to single residents and families making between $32,057 and $63,060 a year.

One-bedroom apartments will be available for $895 per month for single residents making between $32,057 and $38,100 a year, or two-person households making between $32,057 and $43,500 a year.

Two-bedroom apartments will be available for $1,082 per month for two-person households making between $38,502 and $43,500 a year, three-person households making between $38,502 and $48,960 a year, and four-person households making between $38,502 and $54,360 a year. 

The three-bedroom apartment will be available for $1,247 per month for three-person households making between $44,605 and $48,960 a year, four-person households making between $44,605 and $54,360 a year, five-person households making between $44,605 and $58,740 a year, and six-person households making between $44,605 and $63,060 a year.

Amenities include a 24-hour doorman, bicycle storage, attended car parking, a gym, a playroom, a stroller room, an outdoor recreation area and laundry rooms on each floor, according to Department of Buildings records.

Residents who currently live in the Community Board 2 area — which includes Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Boerum Hill, Vinegar Hill and Brooklyn Heights — will get preference for half of the affordable units.

Five percent of the units will be reserved for mobility-disabled applicants, and 2 percent will be reserved for hearing-disabled applicants. 

Municipal employees will get preference for 5 percent of the units. 

The new building, designed by Aufgang Architects, is being developed by Megalith Capital Management and Urban Realty Partners, which bought the property from the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2012, according to 6sqft.com.  

It will include 105 total apartments and 1,488 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
