Muggers Steal $282 From 9-Year-Old After Luring Him Out of Store, NYPD Says

FORT GREENE — A pair of muggers stole nearly $300 in cash from a 9-year-old boy after luring him out of a Target at the Atlantic Terminal mall, police said.

The male suspect approached the boy inside the Target at 139 Flatbush Ave. around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 while he was shopping inside the store, the NYPD said.

The suspects struck up a conversation with the boy and convinced him to leave the store with them, police said. 

As they were walking on Adelphi Street, one of the men put his hand over the boy's mouth while the other took $282 in cash from the victim's pocket, police said.

The suspects, who fled foot, did not injure the boy, police said.

► A trio of men stole an Xbox and an iPhone from a 19-year-old man who was trying to sell the gaming console to one of the suspects just before 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 near Waverly and Lafayette avenues, police said. When the victim met up with the suspect, the thief asked to use his cellphone so he could call his mom. The two other suspects then showed up and fought with the victim, making off with the Xbox and his iPhone, police said.

► A burglar stole a MacBook Air laptop and $30 in cash from a 40-year-old woman’s apartment at Carlton and DeKalb avenues around 3 p.m. on Jan. 10, police said.

► A 54-year-old woman was getting out of the Classon Ave. G train station when a man snatched her purse containing a Coach wallet, a cellphone, a key, gift cards and a MetroCard around 1 p.m. on Jan. 10, police said.
