ROCKAWAY BEACH — An affordable housing complex in the area was raided by officials Tuesday morning — a week after DNAinfo New York reported exclusively that investigators were probing the complex.

Officials were seen poring over boxes of seized files inside the community room of at 8600 Shore Front Parkway at the complex Tuesday morning, following an investigation into claims that the board was warehousing units, among other issues.

Inspectors from the Department of Investigation had been speaking with residents of the more than 1,100-unit, five-building federally subsidized affordable housing complex next to the Atlantic Ocean in Rockaway Beach about their concerns since at least early November, sources said.

The city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development confirmed the investigation in October.

HPD, which is the agency responsible for overseeing the complex, had conducted their own examination after residents complained about issues with the co-op board. But HPD "found no evidence to support the allegations," spokeswoman Juliet Pierre-Antoine said at the time.

Officials from the DOI and the HPD did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Jennifer Grady, Co-Op board president of Dayton Beach Park, said when reached by phone Tuesday, "I don't know about any raid, please don't call me anymore."
