Cab Driver Robbed by Passenger Who Tried to Pay With Fake Cash, Police Say

CLINTON HILL — A 38-year-old cab driver was robbed by a passenger who threatened him with a sharp object after trying to pay fare with a fake $20 bill, according to the NYPD.

The driver picked up the passenger in front of Khemistry Bar at 216 Malcolm X Blvd. in Bedford-Stuyvesant and dropped him off in front of 963 Fulton St. in Clinton Hill just before midnight on Nov. 7., the report said.

When the passenger stepped out of the cab, he tried to pay with a forged $20 bill, police said. 

He then took out a sharp object and demanded the cab driver’s money, the report said. 

The suspect took $45 from the driver and ran towards the southbound C train at Washington Avenue and Fulton Street, according to police.

No arrests have been made.

Other notable crimes from the 88th Precinct, which includes Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, according to police:

► A 66-year-old woman’s wallet was stolen after she got into an argument with two men on a southbound 4 train around 9 p.m. on Nov. 7. The men were arguing with her about her bumping into them before they got off the train at Borough Hall.

The woman noticed her wallet, which contained several credit cards, was missing when she got off at the Nevins Street station at Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue. 

► An unidentified suspect snatched a bag from a 55-year-old man aboard a southbound C train at the Lafayette Avenue station around 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 8. The victim was holding the handle to a blue duffel bag that was on the floor, when the train doors started closing and the suspect grabbed it.
