Brooklyn Tech Staffer Tries to Hit Colleague With Baseball Bat, Police Say

FORT GREENE — An employee at the high-achieving Brooklyn Technical High School tried to hit a colleague with a bat following an argument, police said.

The unidentified attacker tried to hit the the 39-year-old male co-worker with a wooden baseball bat outside the school at 29 Fort Greene Place around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 19, according to a police report.

After being disrespected by the suspect earlier in the day, the would-be victim "rebuffed" his colleague, making the person angry, police said.

After work, the suspect and two other Brooklyn Tech employees tried to prevent the man from getting into his car by blocking him with their own cars, police said.

At one point, the suspect tried to hit the victim with a baseball bat, police said.

The victim’s supervisor intervened before anyone was injured, police said.

It wasn't clear which positions the employees held at the high school

Brooklyn Tech and the Department of Education did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
