Say cheese!
Sunday, Sept. 18 marks National Cheeseburger Day, and there's no better way to celebrate than by grabbing a bite at one of the New York City restaurants that knows how to do cheeseburgers right.
Whether you're craving a classic pub-style cheeseburger or want to push the boat out with a newfangled concoction that piles on all the fixings, here's where to find your cheeseburger in paradise.
Sweet Afton Burger, Sweet Afton, 30-09 34th St., Astoria
Take the N or Q train to Astoria, park yourself in the backyard beer garden, and order a Sweet Afton Burger with your choice of New York State cheddar, gruyére, or muenster. Go ahead and add bacon and caramelized onions to your order. We won't judge.
Hot Pa$trami Brgur, Flattopps, 33-06 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria

This new hip-hop themed, all-burger spot has been getting a lot of buzz in the neighborhood. Try the Hot Pa$trami Brgur ($12) that comes topped with cheddar, tapenade and spicy mustard.

This $26 burger goes all out from the pasture-raised dry aged beef to the pretzel bun. Top it all with Grafton cheddar cheese and the restaurant's special Emmy sauce, and you'll be in cheeseburger heaven.
Dumac Burger, DuMont Burger, 314 Bedford Ave., Williamsburg
You can't go wrong with a straightforward Dumont Burger. It's topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion and housemade pickles on a brioche bun and you can add cheese for $1.50. If you want to kick your dining experience up, go for the Dumac & Cheese Burger ($15) which is topped with — you guessed it — mac & cheese.
Chargrilled Lamb Burger, The Breslin, 16 W. 29th St., Midtown

Topped with feta, "thrice cooked chips" and cumin mayo, this cheeseburger will set you back $25 but fans say it's worth every penny.
Cheeseburger, Burger Joint, 119 W. 56th St., Midtown
Be in the know, and get one of the best cheeseburgers in Manhattan for the random price of $9.42. You'll have to find this casual burger joint tucked away in the much swankier Le Parker Meridian, but once you taste the classic cheeseburger it'll all be worth it.
Cheeseburger, Mikey's Burger, 134 Ludlow St., Lower East Side
Mikey's Burger is known for its signature burger of corned beef, grilled onions and mustard, but if you want to keep it classic this National Cheeseburger Day you can grab a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato and onions for just $6.50. There's also a turkey burger option if you don't eat red meat.
The Nurn-burger, Nurnberger Bierhalle, 815 Castleton Ave., West Brighton
This Staten Island beer hall stacks its 10 oz. beef patty with bacon, cheese, fried onions and a pickle. And if you're thirsty, you can wash it all down with one of the bar's German beers. Prost!
