DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Two women attacked a Downtown Brooklyn smoke shop employee after he refused to sell them rolling papers without showing ID, police and the worker said.

The women, who police described as in their 20s, were in Mikey’s Smoke Shop at 60 Schermerhorn St. around 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 2 when the incident happened, the NYPD said.

The employee who was attacked, 69-year-old Teekaram Guptar, said the women tried to buy the papers but wouldn’t hand over their IDs when he asked.

The suspects then tried to grab the papers from behind the counter, but Guptar stopped them by standing in their way, he said in a phone conversation.

The women got angry and attacked him, scratching the worker in the face and hitting him with a ball, he recounted.

Guptar said he wasn’t badly hurt, but that he didn’t know what the women were capable of.

“I wasn’t scared, but I didn’t know what they wanted to do,” he said.

He said the women eventually left the shop and headed toward Court Street.

No arrests have been made.
