DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a teen who broke a 17-year-old boy’s jaw on Jay Street.

The victim was in front of 300 Jay St. at 3:45 p.m. on July 28 when the other teen, who he didn’t know, started punching him in the face, police said. 

The victim’s face was bruised and his jaw was broken after the attack, police said. 

He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital for treatment, according to police.

The other teen fled northbound on Jay Street. 

Police did not say what sparked the attack. 

No arrests have been made.

Other notable crimes from the Downtown Brooklyn area, according to police, include:

► A 74-year-old woman had $2,000 taken from her bank account on July 21 after a suspect posed as the victim and gave a teller at the Chase Bank on Fulton and Bond streets a withdrawal slip for that amount, police said. The victim noticed the money had been withdrawn while she was on vacation in Columbia County. A spokesman at the branch declined to comment.

► A 59-year-old man’s wallet was stolen aboard a southbound 4 train after he boarded at City Hall in Manhattan and got off at Borough Hall in Brooklyn sometime between 1:45 and 2:05 p.m. on July 28, police said. The man later discovered he had $592 in charges on his credit cards.

► A 23-year-old man left his office at 20 Jay St. unlocked for 10 minutes, between 5:55 and 6:05 p.m. on July 28, came back to find his MacBook and iPhone 6 had been stolen, police said. No arrests have been made. 

► A 45-year-old construction worker had his backpack containing $940 cash and work tools stolen from an office at 415 Red Hook Lane on July 30 sometime between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m, police said. No arrests have been made.

► Two iPads and $1,400 in cash were stolen from Designer Nails salon at 344 Livingston St. while it was closed sometime between 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. on July 31, police said. The suspect got into the salon through an unlocked basement door and took the items from locked cabinets by breaking the locks. No arrests have been made. An employee for the salon declined to comment.
