FORT GREENE — A woman was fatally shot in the head in a hallway of the Whitman Houses Thursday morning, police said.
The woman, who investigators haven't been able to identify, was shot in the head, leg and arm inside 56 N. Oxford Walk, near Park Avenue, just minutes after midnight, NYPD officials said.
"I didn't hear anything in the hallway — no yelling or screaming — until that boom, boom, boom," said Louise Lee, 78, who lives on the fifth floor where the shooting happened.
"I thought it was firecrackers," Lee said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
There were no immediate arrests, police said.
It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the homicide, police said.
