FORT GREENE —  A Myrtle Avenue pet store is asking for the community’s help in designing its new look.

Who’s Your Doggy is looking to replace its temporary storefront sign that has been up since the shop moved in December to its current location at 354 Myrtle Ave.

“We are excited to have our neighbors be a part of the new look and feel of our store,” owner Tracy Klonowski said in a statement.

Who’s Your Doggy has been a community effort since day one, she explained. When the store opened its first location on Adelphi Street in 2006, Klonowski surveyed pet owners in Fort Greene Park to see what brands and products they wanted to see there.

She said community members can get involved once more by helping design the new storefront sign.

“I would like to call on our creative neighbors to make that happen again,” Klonowski said. “You’ve heard the expression, It takes a village to raise a dog store!”

The Myrtle Avenue Business Improvement District will help the store finance the new sign with a grant through its BID Storefront Improvement Program, which has given $73,000 in grants to storefronts since it launched in 2006, the BID said.

Designs can be submitted as paper sketches, or digital PDF, Adobe Illustrator or InDesign files.

All designs must include the phrases “Who’s Your Doggy” and “Pet Food, Supply & Grooming,” as well as including the store’s logo.

The signs must also follow the city’s sign code, available here

Final designs must be submitted by Friday, July 22, via email to hello@myrtleavenue.org. The winning designer will receive a $50 gift card.
