CLINTON HILL — Have you seen Pierogi?

The 1-year-old orange tabby has been missing from his home on Clinton Avenue, between Lafayette and DeKalb avenues, since early Wednesday morning, according to his owner Shawn, who suspects the cat may have jumped out of a second-story window.

Shawn, who declined to give his last name, said he saw Pierogi around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when he put some food out for the cat and then went to sleep.

When he woke up the next morning, Pierogi was missing and the window screen had separated from the frame.

Shawn guessed the kitten may have been chasing a fly, as he’s done before, and jumped on the screen when the fly landed on it.

“I’ve seen him jump at the screen before and move it as he’s getting bigger,” Shawn said.

He described Pierogi — who acts like a dog, following people around the house and licking them — as “rambunctious, personable and really sweet.”

Shawn and his family took Pierogi in after his mother-in-law passed away in September. Now, he said his 7-year-old son is worried about what’s going to happen to his grandmother’s cat.

“He’s a sweet little guy, he’s part of our family,” Shawn said. “Part of our family is missing.”

Pierogi, who doesn't have a microchip, has always been an indoor cat, and Shawn is worried he won’t be able to find food.

He thinks Pierogi is probably hiding out in neighboring backyards or in Underwood Park, between Washington and Waverly avenues.
