NAVY YARD — Hillary Clinton took the stage at the Brooklyn Navy Yard's Duggal Greenhouse Tuesday night where she claimed the Democratic presidential nomination after winning four states in the last major round of primaries.

Clinton, who is set be the first woman to win a party nomination in American history after decisive primary wins in California, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota, noted the symbolism of the greenhouse’s glass panels.

“It is wonderful to be back in Brooklyn, here in this beautiful building,” Clinton said. “And it may be hard to see tonight, but we are all standing under a glass ceiling right now. We’re not smashing this one.”

She said her journey to the nomination began at the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention in New York, where female pioneers fought for women’s voting rights.

The presumptive Democratic nominee congratulated opponent Bernie Sanders on his campaign at the same location where the two candidates sparred in a debate just two months earlier, and urged his supporters to join forces with her in the fight Republican nominee Donald Trump in the general election.

“We believe that we are stronger together and the stakes in this election are high and the choice is clear — Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit to be president of the United States,” she said.

Clinton was joined on the stage by daughter Chelsea and husband Bill following her speech.

The final primary will be held in the District of Columbia next week. The official nomination will be made at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July.
