Man Swiped Handbags from Customers at Popular Clinton Hill Bar, Police Say

CLINTON HILL — Police are looking to question a man caught on surveillance video in connection with two handbag thefts at the same bar in Clinton Hill.

The man was first seen walking into the Emerson Bar, at 561 Myrtle Ave., around 2:30 a.m. on April 30, according to the NYPD.

The man took a 36-year-old woman’s Michael Kors handbag, containing a men’s gold diamond ring, and fled, police said.

Police said the total value of the bag and its contents was $1,480.

The man walked into the same bar around 11:15 p.m. on May 13 and took another woman’s handbag before fleeing, police said. 

Police did not have information on the value of the second handbag.

The NYPD has released photos and surveillance video of the man they are seeking to question. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
