'I'm the Motherf--ing Police' Correction Officer Yells at Deli Worker: NYPD

BROOKLYN — An off-duty correction officer was arrested Thursday for throwing a tantrum in a Clinton Hill grocery store and shouting at a cashier "I'm the motherf---ing police!" an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Joyce Fields, a 48-year-old officer with the city's Department of Correction, brought her groceries to the teller at 382 Myrtle Ave., near Clermont Avenue, about 2 p.m. and handed over some cash, police said.

Fields thought the teller took too long to give cash back and became irate, throwing her groceries to the floor along with other merchandise nearby including articles of clothing and bags of chips, prosecutors said.

Fields also banged the cash register with her hand so hard that the drawer is now stuck, prosecutors said.

The teller threatened to call police, officials said.

"I'm the motherf---ing police! Call the police!" the correction officer said while flashing her silver badge, according to NYPD officials.

NYPD officers arrested Fields at the scene on charges of impersonating a police officer and criminal mischief, police said.
