QUEENS — An NYPD safety agent was arrested Monday after stealing a hoverboard and then running a red light in Queens, a police spokeswoman said.

Shuana Covington, 43, was stopped after running the light near Queens Village at about 1:30 p.m., according to the NYPD. Police then found the stolen hoverboard in her vehicle, the spokeswoman added.

Covington was taken into custody and charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and a traffic violation.

Police refused to give information on where the school safety officer worked.

The Department of Education referred questions to the NYPD.

Covington was expected to be arraigned in Queens Criminal Court.
