DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Construction has started at the site of a new 13-story hotel in Downtown Brooklyn, according to reports.
New photos from Tectonic show construction underway at 61 Bond Street, between Schermerhorn and State streets, according to the New York YIMBY website.
The 18,000-square-foot space, which formerly served as an open-air parking lot, will become a “lifestyle hotel” that’s slated to open in 2017, according to developer GB Lodging’s website.
The building, which was once rumored to become an Ace Hotel, will rise 140 feet and will feature 285 rooms, according to YIMBY.
There will be a lobby bar, a restaurant, shops, a radio station and a winter garden on the first floor, event spaces on the second floor, and a fitness center and offices on the third floor, YIMBY reports.
GB Lodging has partnered with GFI Development Company to develop the new hotel, which will be designed by architect Paul Taylor of Stonehill & Taylor, according to Department of Buildings records.
