FORT GREENE — A 50-year-old postal worker was attacked in a Fort Greene deli Wednesday afternoon after he confronted a group of rowdy patrons, police said.
The USPS worker, whose identity was not released, was inside Genuine Deli at 700 Fulton St. just after 3:30 p.m. when he intervened to stop six men who were causing a commotion, according to the NYPD.
The men retaliated by punching the man on the head and body before taking off on foot, police said.
It wasn’t clear what sparked the commotion by the six suspects.
The victim, who sustained abrasions and an eye injury, was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where he was treated and released.
The U.S. Postal Service did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Police released surveillance photos of four of the men, some of whom are believed to be teenagers.
