DUMBO — Think you’ve got a good eye?
United Photo Industries is now accepting submissions for its annual 1,250-foot photo exhibit at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
For the fifth year, "The Fence" will feature the work of 40 artists from around the world, from the north end of the park in DUMBO to Pier 5 at Joralemon Street in Brooklyn Heights.
Photographers of all levels are welcome to submit a series of six images that explore the theme of “community” and fall under one of five categories — home, streets, people, creatures, nature and play.
The categories are broad and open to interpretation, said UPI co-founder Sam Barzilay.
“We like being surprised,” Barzilay said.
A jury of 45 photography and art professionals will select the photos that will be on display.
Along with being featured at September’s “Photoville” festival, this year’s “Jury’s Choice Winner” will also receive a $5,000 cash prize and a Leica T camera package.
The cash prize was added this year in order to help artists continue the work they’ve submitted.
“The idea is to support artists and bring an audience for people,” Barzilay said.
“The Fence” will be on display in five cities this year: Boston, New York, Santa Fe, Atlanta and Houston.
The exhibit will come to Brooklyn Bridge Park in June and be on display through the end of “Photoville,” sometime in September.
Submissions are being accepted through March 7.
