Man Attacks Ex-Girlfriend on Christmas Eve in Fight Over $10, Police Say

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A fight between exes over $10 turned physical when a man pushed his ex-girlfriend to the ground to get at the money, according to police.

The 48-year-old woman and her ex were fighting over $10 that she wouldn’t give him, so he followed her to her apartment on Schermerhorn Street around 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve, the NYPD said.

The 49-year-old man pushed her into the apartment and knocked her to the ground, police said.

He allegedly rifled through her bra and her jacket, looking for the money.

A security guard walking by intervened and stopped the scuffle, but the man fled. Police say they are still looking for him.

Other notable crimes in the 84th and 88th precincts include:

A 26-year-old man was sitting on a northbound 3 train around Flatbush Avenue and Nevins Street around 5 p.m. on Dec. 18 when another man sat down next to him and said, “Are you a gang member? I have a gun.” The man took the victim’s Samsung Note and red Sony headphones, then let him get off at the Nevins Street stop. The suspect remained on the train and rode off. 

A 29-year-old man walked out of the lobby of the Boys and Girls Club at 240 Nassau St. around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 when he realized he was missing some items he had been holding between his legs, he told police. When he went back to the lobby, he saw his cell phone and wallet, which contained bank cards, an ID, a passport and insurance card, were gone. 

A 40-year-old man’s BMW was stolen around 4 p.m. on Dec. 23 after he parked it while he went to the movie theater and a restaurant. Police said the car is a 2007, four-door BMW sedan.

A 42-year-old man was going to the grocery store to buy beer near Fort Greene Park just after midnight Christmas morning when he was attacked by five to six men who took his iPhone 3, $10, a birth certificate and his beer. He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital with a broken jaw, a bruised eye, a possibly broken nose and memory loss.

A 20-year-old woman was walking out of her apartment at the Ingersoll Houses around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 25 when the father of her son appeared and attacked her. She told police he grabbed her head and banged it into the wall, then took her phone and threw it at her head. To defend herself, she cut his face with a knife, then fled. 

A 38-year-old man was trying to make coffee inside 417 State St. around 2 a.m. on Dec. 27 when another man blocked him from the coffee maker. The victim asked the man to please move so he could make coffee, so the other man took the coffee filter holder and threw it at the victim, striking him and injuring him in the nose. The 25-year-old suspect was arrested.
