ELMHURST — Police are still investigating the driver of a cement truck who drove into a woman and two kids on Wednesday, sending them to the hospital with serious injuries, officials said Friday.

The driver from Corona Transit Mix truck was making a right turn on 55th Avenue from Junction Boulevard at around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 when he struck a boy, girl and a woman they were walking with, according to police and witnesses.

They were all taken to Elmhurst Hospital and their conditions were not immediately available.

Police said Friday they were still looking into the case and no charges had yet been brought. The driver stayed at the scene.

As part of the mayor's Vision Zero push, failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk is now a criminal offense. Drivers convicted of this offense face up to a year in jail, according to an official.

A person who answered the phone Friday at Corona Transit Mix said the driver in Wednesday's crash was still working at the company.
