FORT GREENE — Police are looking for a suspect who stabbed playwright David Henry Hwang as he was walking near his Brooklyn home Sunday night.
Hwang, best known for the Tony-award-winning 1988 play “M. Butterfly,” was walking in front of 76 South Portland Ave. just before 9 p.m. when he was stabbed in the neck, the New York Daily News first reported.
The unidentified suspect fled the scene without taking anything from Hwang.
He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where he was treated and released.
Hwang tweeted about the attack on Thursday, thanking followers for their support.
“No pain, just a little tired - after Sun’s random attack and expect a full recovery,” he tweeted.
