DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Local entrepreneurs will show off their best business pitches as part of a Brooklyn competition straight out of the popular show "Shark Tank."

Make It in Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Education Summit are teaming up to host the showdown between five pre-selected finalists — who each get two minutes to pitch and four minutes to field questions from a panel of judges from TechCrunch, JP Morgan Chase and BBG Ventures, according to the event website.

The contest, to be held Nov. 5 at Hill Country Barbecue on Adams Street from 6 to 8 p.m., will cost $5 to attend as an audience member. Brooklyn Brewery beer and snacks will be provided.

Prizes include $5,000, a WeWork membership, a monthlong residency at NYU's DUMBO incubator space and free driving time from ZipCar.

The contest is part of an ongoing series of business-pitch competitions leading up to next spring's second annual Make It in Brooklyn Summit, organizers said.
