Celebrate the Bedford-Stuyvesant community in a meet-and-greet with neighbors as part of the photography project, "On the Way Home." Resident Yael Magnes created the art project as a way to get to know locals, and the series will be showcased this weekend with a slideshow, DJs, and drinks.
► “Tension” by Denis Gardarin Gallery
Where: 202 Coffey St., Red Hook
When: Noon to 6 p.m.
This site-specific installation features 1,000 square feet of yellow latex stretched between structural pillars at 212 Coffey St., a former shipping warehouse. The exhibit, by artist Joseph La Piana, will be open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
FRIDAY SEPT. 25

Check out vintage goods and local vendors at Bed-Stuy’s night market. The owners of Akichi Flea, which operates out of a lot on Fulton Street and Spencer Place, will bring DJs, food and drinks this Friday to join their collection of old Airstreams.
► 13th Annual New York Burlesque Festival
Where: Brooklyn Bowl, 61 Wythe Ave., Williamsburg
When: Doors at 6 p.m., show at 8 p.m.
One of the largest burlesque festivals in the world kicks off on Friday at Brooklyn Bowl, with performances from dozens of top dancers from across the globe. Expect glitz, glam and a lot of sex appeal.
► The Art of Revolution: Power, Protest and Resistance Opening Reception
Where: The Skylight Gallery at Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 7 p.m.
Dozens of local artists showcase their work as part of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Center for Arts & Culture's launch of “Project Protest.” The free event is part of program that focuses on how communities challenge and respond to social, economic, and educational injustices.

Ingrid Bergman stars in George Cukor’s “masterpiece of psychological ambiguity,” as BAM puts it. Admission is $14.

A new “boutique” liquor and wine shop on Rogers Avenue is hosting a free tasting this week, as they've done every week since opening in early September. Check out their selection at the new store at the corner of Union Street.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 26
► The Rub

Brooklyn’s inclusive and lively dance party will donate this month’s 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. door proceeds to Building Beats, which engages young people by teaching DJ skills. Admission is $10 before midnight, $15 after.
► Brooklyn Americana Music Festival
Where: Brooklyn Bridge Park, Granite Terrace, Brooklyn Heights
When: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Musicians play outside at a free day of bluegrass, folk, blues, roots, old time and traditional country at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
► Village Voice Fifth Annual Craft Beer Festival
Where: Brooklyn Expo Center, 72 Noble St., Greenpoint
When: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
More than 100 craft beers will be available at this festival, from local breweries like Bushwick's Braven Brewing Company to outside spots like Traveler Beer Company from Vermont. Tickets start at $55 and get you access to unlimited tastings.

Get free bike helmets for the family at this Citi Bike celebration. A total of 26 new bike docks arrived in Bed-Stuy as part of Citi Bike’s recent expansion, and community organizations and residents will be at Marcy Playground for street safety classes, helmet fittings, face painting, exercise classes and more.
► Bounce Back to School Carnival

Let your kids bounce around all day on seven commercial-grade bouncy castles at this year’s "Bounce Back to School" fundraiser and carnival at P.S. 9 in Prospect Heights. The event will also feature food, raffles, carnival games and face painting.
► Paleo Supper Club Dinner at Brooklyn Commune

Tickets are $50 for this dinner where you'll feast like cave dwellers on Vietnamese chicken spring rolls, Chinese lion’s head meatballs and other paleo dishes. Chih-Yu, founder of I Heart Umami, will be a guest speaker at the dinner.

Spice lovers, get ready for a festival made for you. Free tastings, live music and a “Tour-de-Chile” are on the schedule at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s 23rd annual Chile Pepper Festival. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and free for children under 12.
► Greenpoint Arts Block Festival

► Atlantic Antic Street Festival

Brooklyn’s biggest and oldest street festival features live music and performances on 15 stages, food and booze from local vendors, and children’s activities including pony ride and bounce houses.
► International Coastal Cleanup in Prospect Park
Where: Prospect Park Lake
When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Enjoy the beautiful fall weather while doing something good for Prospect Park at this annual, worldwide event. Volunteers will help remove trash from the park’s lake, then document the debris as part of a global effort organized by the Ocean Conservancy.
