BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — The owners of a Bed-Stuy flea market will host their first nighttime bazaar this weekend — featuring music, food and antique wares sold out of vintage Airstream trailers.

Akichi Flea, which opened in an empty lot on the corner of Fulton Street and Spencer Place this spring, debuts the new event Friday evening.

The market usually operates during the day on Saturdays and Sundays, but organizers hoped to draw larger crowds with the cooler weather at dusk, said owner Hisaki Kiyohara.

“August is the hottest month of the year and the heat has kept some people away, but now they can get an extra day of the market and enjoy a little party,” Kiyohara said.

Akichi is partnering with The Wellness Market, which will provide a variety of holistic vendors that offer options such as vegan treats, henna, massages and face-painting for kids.

A DJ will also be on site, Kiyohara said.

“This definitely won’t be our last night market,” he added.

Kiyohara opened Akichi with five friends and showcases vintage clothing and goods out of a 1971 Airstream.

The site at 1181 Fulton St. also features a 1961 Airstream and a Spartan trailer from the 1950s, he said.

The Akichi Night Bazaar will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 28. The flea market will also operate during its normal hours on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the website here.
