CLINTON HILL — The city says it has agreed on terms for a new lease for the community center at 966 Fulton St., which had faced closure.

"We have agreed on terms and the lease is with the landlord for review," Cathy Hanson, a spokeswoman for the city's Department of Citywide Administrative Services wrote in an email.

The center will remain open, the city's Department for the Aging added.

Locals protested the potential closing of the Grace Agard Harewood Neighborhood Senior Center and its neighboring pre-K.

They feared the community center, which bears a "For Lease" sign, would have to shut their doors if the city failed to renew its lease before it expired on Sept. 15.

The Fort Greene Council, which runs the center, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
