CLINTON HILL — A 17-year-old who shot two bystanders on the Classon Playground last weekend struck two innocent bystanders while aiming for retribution against a rival who targeted him during an earlier attack, according to a law enforcement source.

Tyquan Burnett, 17, was charged with attempted murder after the Saturday shooting that sent a 32-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man to the hospital, according to the NYPD and court documents.

Burnett was lying in wait with his friends in the playground around 7:20 p.m. in search of a rival who had chased him and tried to shoot him earlier in the day, a source said.

The friends spotted their target, according to the source, and gestured for him to come closer. Then they unleashed multiple rounds into the crowded playground, missing the target but hitting a 32-year-old woman in the left leg and a 33-year-old man in the right arm, according to police.

Both victims were taken to Methodist Hospital, NYPD said.

Burnett was arrested Monday morning and was ordered held on $250,000 bail. He is due back in court on Friday, according to court records.

Burnett’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
