Man Caught on Fire Outside Fort Greene Park, Police Say

FORT GREENE — A man suffered burns over half of his body after catching on fire outside of Fort Greene Park early Friday morning, police said.

The 36-year-old man, who lives in Queens and was not identified, caught fire around 1 a.m. on Washington Park and was taken to the burn unit at Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

Detectives found cups at the scene that smelled like gasoline, according to Eyewitness News.

The victim is a seasonal parks worker and was off-duty at the time, the news channel reported.

As of now, it is unknown if the incident was an accident and a police investigation is ongoing, according to the NYPD.
